Spillover≠Emerging infectious disease ≠True multi-host pathogen.#SARSCoV2 started as a spillover pathogen, but should now be referred to as a 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 given the sustained transmission in wild deer and documented deer-to-human transmission.

1. Eighteen elephants found dead yesterday in Assam. Social media is rife with comments like "How lightning could kill so many in one go?" or "Can't believe lightning could kill so many elephants.
My 2 cents: One of the main instigators of human-leopard conflict in Maharashtra is the 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐩 (𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞) 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 (𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞) policy. Such trappings by MahFD aren't always 'official' (not sanctioned by Chief Wildlife Warden).
